A beachfront hotel where the location is the real draw — clean rooms with working A/C and the sound of the waves right at your door, run by a laid-back, chatty owner. Be aware it's adult-oriented and geared to solo travelers rather than families; several reviewers make clear it's not the spot for children. Simple, clean, and right on the sand for what it is.

This is our 2nd time staying here, we would come back a 3rd time Perfect location right in front of the Beach, rooms are clean, pool is clean, and the owner is pretty chill
My experience at Gallina e Palo was awesome! Private rooms and good facilities may you feel at home! Rooms are very clean. Conditioning air good. During the evening you may walk around stores, souvenirs, restaurants and more. Also you may enjoy the beach and watch Costa Rican culture and folks.
If you don't know Spanish, get the name translated for a hint. The location is fantastic and the rooms are surprisingly clean, but unless you're a party animal or just hired a "working girl" it may not be what you're looking for. The gregarious and overly friendly host/owner seems like a decent man deep down, but not everyone will appreciate his attitude or stories. I would strongly recommend against bringing children here. The lizards are cool though. I would think it performs beyond expectations for it's intended purpose, which is definitely not a good night's rest, nice morning shower, or hot cup of coffee (for which you'll need to find a cafe).
