Hertz

They cancelled my reservation in Jaco with 28 hrs notice. I stopped by their office to find out why and learned five other people's reservations had also been arbitrarily cancelled for the same day. The person in the office claimed they didn't know why, it was done by someone, somewhere else but probably because they didn't have enough cars. I had booked directly through the Hertz CR website, so something is seriously wrong. Their system allows you to book cars they don't have, or, they're to disorganized to get cars to where they need them, or, they cancel your booking and rent the car to someone else at a higher price. Their prices were quite a bit lower than the others in town, which makes me think "if it's too good to be true...." As a result of their unreliabilty, they've lost my three other bookings. Can't risk a repeat, even if the car was free.

I had a reservation for a rental car at the Hertz location in Jacó, Costa Rica for four days, made about three days in advance. When I arrived, the office was completely closed with no staff present. I called the number listed on the building and was told they were closed for the day because they “didn’t have any reservations.” They said someone would come meet me in about 20 minutes. When they arrived, I was told that all reservations in their system had been canceled. However, on my end, my reservation was still active. I never received any cancellation notice or communication from Hertz. I contacted Expedia, and they confirmed that the reservation was still open on their side as well and that there were no cancellation notifications whatsoever. This left me stranded and forced to spend time on the phone trying to sort out a problem that was clearly internal to this location. A rental car company should not be closed with no notice and should certainly not cancel reservations without informing customers. I would not recommend this Hertz location to anyone who needs reliable transportation.

TERRIBLE. First off my fiancé and I made a reservation for a car 3 days in advanced and even added insurance all of this is through Expedia. We get to the store and their door is locked so we called the number on the door and the guy says he’s not in right now but can be in office in 20 minutes. Also told us that he left because he doesn’t have any reservations for the day and even if he did there’s no cars available. When he gets to the location he tells us he is sorry he was getting a car cleaned, to me that sounds like a car is available. He then continues to tell us that he has no reservations for the day so we show him our confirmation and he replies with “oh I see it says customer cancelled” we told him impossible because we booked through Expedia and had n contact with them at all through Expedia’s app it was no cancelled and we already had Expedia on the phone and they even told us their end it wasn’t cancelled. We discovered they rented out the car we reserved and cancelled our reservation without notifying us, and then tried putting the blame on us.
