Hostel de Haan

This was our first time staying in a hostel, as we’re usually more used to hotels or motels. We booked a private room with a private bathroom. The room and bedding seemed clean, but the bathroom still felt a bit grimy even though it appeared to be cleaned regularly. The safe was plastic and missing a few screws, so it didn’t feel very secure. The main bedroom door was more like an old sliding balcony door and didn’t close very well. Also, they charge extra if you want the AC remote. There is parking available next door behind the Japanese restaurant attached to the hostel, which was convenient. We didn’t use the shared kitchen or the pool. Overall, it’s fine for backpackers or younger travelers and decent value for the price. But if you’re used to more comfort and privacy, you may prefer a hotel.

Probably the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in! Everything about this place was amazing, from the clean and comfy rooms to the well-equipped kitchen and the relaxing pool area. But what truly made the experience unforgettable was the host, Wilson. He’s not only incredibly helpful and always around to answer questions or offer advice, but also genuinely funny and kind, he makes you feel right at home. You can tell he puts a lot of heart into this place. I absolutely loved my stay and would 100% come back again. Highly recommend!

We stayed in a dorm room. The bedsheets had a lot of stains on them and I asked if I could take a sheet from another bed to mine but they said that if I use more than one bed I have to pay for that so I had to sleep with the dirty sheet. After check out we wanted to leave our bags for storage for a couple of hours to run some errands but that was not possible which doesn’t happen very often in a hostel. In the kitchen the pots and pans are old and used but at least it’s clean. Also the room had only ceiling fans that were not enough in the heat. Luckily they were able to provide one extra fan for the two of us. A bar across the street plays very loud music in the evening. Before checking out I went to see the private rooms and shared toilets and decided to take of one more star from the review… the toilets don’t have the seats at all which is okay for a public toilet but not in a hostel and the privates look awful, they don’t even have proper doors. All in all I would not have wanted to stay longer than a night.
