I would suggest that you always stay away from this place I booked it online. I came to check in with my Wife So they told me that I have to fix your $50 every night that she stays with me was showing breakfast was included then they said breakfast is not included as well. Anyway I stayed here before it was not like this but now they changed the rules but if you book it online, they will charge you extra and the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I’ve never come back here messages you guys do not come here as well.

My stay at Hotel South Beach in Jaco was decent with a few hiccups. Check in was pretty smooth and our room was easy to find. As far as where it is located, for the price, this hotel is in a great location and is close to a lot of good places. The beach is absolutely stunning and the pool looked nice although I didn’t get to go in. The overall service was good; the staff at the bars and breakfast/restaurant area were amazing and very friendly! The breakfast they served was delicious, and even better, it was free. Now to my biggest concern, the rooms. Honestly, I was not impressed. First walking in there appeared to be a large worm of some sort that was dead right at the foot of the door which was pretty gross. Not sure how that wasn’t cleaned up. The lighting in the rooms were terrible, it was so dark and I could barely see myself getting ready. There was a fan but it did not work at all the whole time of my stay. The beds were okay, but there were no comforters included, just sheets basically. No microwave or ironing board or hair dryer. Bathroom was decent, pretty clean but I wasn’t a huge fan of the screen window. Also you could hear other people in their hotel rooms pretty clear. A few bugs got in but the room was located in a garden area so not super surprised, it was no big deal. Also wanted to mention that not enough towels were given to us or washcloths on the first night so we had to ask for more, as well as new pillows because the ones we had were hard and flat. There was an extra charge for getting the beach towels dirty… really not sure what that was about. A big problem we had was that me and my group returned back to the hotel late at night. The hotel is gated but there is supposedly 24/7 security there to let you back in. Well we’re at the gate and no one is there. We try to call a number they have posted for help but no answer. We’re waiting outside for about 20 minutes and one my friends has to crawl through the gate and get the security keys to let us in. Ridiculous!! Overall, I would recommend this hotel for the location but definitely not for the rooms and the guest service. This hotel would have a lot of potential if the rooms were upgraded with better or more amenities. Hopefully this interview helps someone out.

I have been to this hotel many times for drinks and dining as the food and drinks are good and affordable. I have personally never stayed at this hotel, but I imagined it would be good as well, therefore, I referred my parents to stay there while visiting Jaco. One of those nights, my parents needed me to stay with them. I did. The next morning, I went to the reception desk to return the key. The woman at the front desk was beyond rude and told me that she would not accept the key from me. However, she also wouldn’t let me leave due to politics. She proceeded to explain that my parents needed to pay a fee for having me there and that they needed to come personally and “bail me out” as it felt like I was being imprisoned. She proceeded to threaten me stating that she would call the police if I left. This was a nightmare. I’ve never experienced such harassment and lack of customer service from a hotel employee in Costa Rica or in any place in the world. She was rude, and unprofessional. I highly encourage this hotel to invest in customer service training for their employees at the front desk.
