A breakfast favorite run by a team of women known for always having a smile, with pancakes, omelettes, and a fresh fruit-and-juice spread people come back for. Later in the day, locals point to the chifrijo, try the pork, fish, or shrimp, as some of the best in Jacó, with portions big enough to eat twice from a single order, plus fresh, tangy ceviche. Good people-watching from the tables.

The "Mariscada" ($44, 22000CRC with taxes) was simply boiled unseasoned chunks of seafood with a butter sauce on top. Both the fish fillet and the lobster were burnt, with the lobster so burnt that it was sent back. Sadly, in spite of the inconvenience, no accomodations were done by the staff, who were unapologetic to say the least.
I stopped by Marea Alta for breakfast and tried their ceviche as well. The food was fresh and flavorful, especially the ceviche, which was perfectly tangy and vibrant. The breakfast options were satisfying and well-prepared, with thoughtful presentation and a nice variety on the menu. The ambiance was welcoming with a relaxed, coastal vibe, and the service was attentive without being overbearing. Overall, a great spot for a laid-back meal with a beautiful view.
We love this restaurant for breakfast and came here twice during our stay in Jaco. The ladies that run the place are very sweet and always have a smile for you. The food is delicious and the meals are big! The pancakes are great, my husband loved the omelette, and the fresh fruit and orange juice were my favorite. The view of the area is fun for people watching, and it’s close to the bank. Definitely recommend.
