About
What guests consistently credit here is the central location, right in the middle of La Fortuna and walkable to shops, restaurants and laundry, and a front desk that books tours and onward transport (including to Monteverde) smoothly and honestly. Set expectations on the rooms, which reviewers describe as basic and dated. Come for the location and the helpful staff rather than polish.

This hostel also known as “poshpackers” which I did not realize until my shuttle driver called it that, so I didn’t read the real reviews until i had checked in… Overall, did not have the most comfortable stay here. I had booked a deluxe private room but was put in a standard which was outdated and cramped. Was going to suck it up for the 4 nights until I saw a cockroach crawl around the 2nd night before a long day tour and didn’t sleep a wink. The staff was nice enough to put me in another more updated room that still seemed like it was under construction. Beds and pillows were not comfortable. Just never felt completely relaxed staying there. Pros: staff was really nice and friendly (Jenny, Christopher and I didn’t catch the other girls name), the location is right in the middle of town so everything is close by and walkable. I booked my other tours and transport to Monteverde with the staff up front (Tasha and Milton) which was smooth and seamless. The outside area is pretty cool with the flora and pool and hammocks. Location is right in the middle of town so very accessible to stores/restaurants/shopping/laundry, etc.
Rooms and specially bathrooms are in poor and neglected condition, ants everywhere in bathrooms, rooms, walls and on bed.
We stayed at this hostel for a weekend. The first problem we encountered was the lack of any signage indicating its location; only one person asked if we were looking for it. It's just a small room with no TV or minibar. The room and bathroom are quite run-down. Everything is neglected, some things are damaged, and there's a lack of hygiene. The shower had very low water pressure and sprayed water everywhere, making it very difficult to shower. The room smells musty and is very damp. However, I must say the location is excellent; it's right in the center of La Fortuna, close to all the shops and businesses in the area.
