Arenal Monara

The Arenal Monara is a real hidden gem. The apartment is very clean, comfortable and luxurious, with a nice bathroom, extremely comfortable bed, and a little kitchenette on the deck, where you can sit back and enjoy an excellent view of Arenal volcano from comfortable chairs. Angela and Armando were great hosts and offered complementary evening tour, where we saw frogs and lizards and bats. The Hotel Arenal Xilopalo next door is associated with this property and provides a swimming pool and a great restaurant for breakfast or dinner. The Arenal Monara is centrally located in the really nice town of La Fortuna, and is close to lots of great restaurants and other amenities.

My partner and I travelled for 4 weeks through Central America and this place was one of the accommodation highlights of the whole trip. The room was lovely and comfortable and clean, and the balcony had the most amazing view over the volcano, it was a great place to sit with a drink in the evening and watch the sunset and birds. The hosts were the main highlight though! Angela and Armando were very friendly and helpful. Armando's free evening garden tour to find frogs and reptiles was a great highlight, we were able to take some wonderful photos. This is such a lovely additional service to offer. We also engaged Armando for a sloth tour which was great, he found several for us (as well as toucans and other cool birds) and helped with photography suggestions. The rooms are a short walk from town, but far enough off the main road that it was nice and quiet. Definitely recommend!

I have to start off by saying this was our second time staying here and we hope to come again. We just have to say that Angela and Armando are the best hands down. The rooms are exactly as they say, clean, modern, working AC and all even the outdoor balcony on each unit. Great seating and view when the clouds part. But breakfast next door was an excellent start to all of our days there both trips. The birds entertaining everyone while enjoying fresh fruit and juice of the day with a nice menu as well. We very much hope to visit again and if we do we will see everyone there again!
