We stayed here for three nights with family and had a wonderful experience. The property is beautiful, well-maintained, and offers charming village-style vibes. Waking up to birds chirping each morning was incredibly relaxing and truly set the tone for a peaceful vacation. For the price, the stay was excellent. Breakfast was included daily from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and featured fresh eggs, black beans and rice, toast, fresh coffee, and a variety of fresh fruits. The staff was very warm, friendly, and welcoming throughout our stay. The rooms could benefit from some minor updates, particularly better insulation for privacy, as conversations from nearby cabins could be heard. That said, the overall experience more than made up for it—the property is beautiful, surrounded by nature, and thoughtfully designed to create a calm, inviting atmosphere. Another big plus is the location: it’s very close to many restaurants in La Fortuna, all within easy walking distance. Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it for anyone looking to relax and enjoy nature.

We stayed two nights at Arenal Montechiari. The hotel was very cute and relaxing. On a clear day, you have a great view of the Arenal Volcano from the pool area. The room itself was quaint, but very clean and spacious. This is a great option if you’re trying not to break the bank. They did offer complimentary breakfast, which was okay, but as I am diabetic, there weren’t many options for me to enjoy. One of the biggest selling points for me is that just up the street—a short 7-minute walk—you can enjoy a chocolate tour at Don Juan Tours La Fortuna, which was a great experience, and there’s also a great restaurant Chicharronera Bar Restaurante Fuego y Sabor that is a must. The downtown area is another 7 minutes down the street. This was a huge bonus for me, as it saved me from having to Uber, like I did while staying at Manoa Resort. One thing to note is that Wi-Fi is not available in the rooms and is primarily accessible in the reception area. However, I see this as a plus—it’s a great opportunity to disconnect from the world and connect with Mother Nature.

I recently stayed at Hotel Montechiari in La Fortuna, and overall it offers very good value considering the low price point. What I liked: • The property is very clean, including the rooms and shared areas. • The pool is well maintained and a nice place to relax after activities. • Breakfast was simple but good and appreciated every morning. • The location is excellent — within walking distance to the town center and close to many restaurants. • It’s also a short drive to several major attractions like hot springs, the Arenal Volcano, hanging bridges, and coffee tours. • The air conditioning in the room worked well, which is essential in La Fortuna’s climate. What could be improved: • The overall comfort of the room is basic. • The lighting uses bright neon fixtures, so I recommend asking reception for a bedside lamp. • The shower pressure was very low. • The soundproofing is minimal, so you can hear noise from outside. • There is limited storage space in the room. • There is no Wi-Fi inside the cabins, only near the reception area and even there it’s barely worked. If you’re looking for an affordable stay with great location and cleanliness, Montechiari is a solid option — just be prepared for simpler room comfort and amenities.
