Book the cooking class and dinner here and you spend the evening with Ivannia and her husband Greivin — a tour of their garden (fruits, vegetables, sugarcane, honey from eight kinds of stingless bees), then hands-on prep from making tortillas to plating an authentic Costa Rican meal you eat together. Families with young kids single it out as a favorite Costa Rica experience; everything is local, and the hosts are warm and patient.

I came here with my wife and two daughters (6yo and 2yo) for a cooking class and dinner. This was one of our favorite experiences in Costa Rica! Ivannia and her husband were amazing hosts. We got a tour of the amazing garden and explanation of all the plants, got to try honey and sugarcane, made tortillas, helped with food prep, and ate an amazing meal. We were concerned with how our girls would enjoy the evening but they had a blast. Ivannia and her husband were so good with them. Would recommend this restaurant and the cooking class to everyone.
Booked a private cooking class at Arenal Puesta del Sol, and it exceeded my expectations!! Ivannia and her husband Greivin were fantastic hosts. Ivannia gave us a tour of her gardens, and explained in great detail, all the fruits and vegetables, that she grew - truly amazing. She has 8 different types of bees pollinating the flowers, each with their own hive. FYI, none have stingers 😁 Oh, and the meal we cooked was 5 star!
If we could give more stars, we would! Just amazing, we had the WOW factor, the tastiest Costa Rican we could hope for. Other than doing ourselves , on Christmas evening, the owner took the time to showed us her garden, explaining every meal( who is ALL local). 3 tasty drinks, 3 course meal.. you can’t come to LaFortuna without eating and enjoying at this awesome place
