Avis Rent a Car La Fortuna

After a very stressful experience with another Avis location, this team completely turned things around for us. The staff was professional, helpful, and understanding from the moment we arrived. They took our concerns seriously, made the exchange process easy, and made sure we were placed in the correct vehicle class that we originally reserved. Most importantly, they thoroughly checked the replacement vehicle and ensured everything was safe and ready to go before we left. That gave us much more peace of mind while traveling with our children on Costa Rica’s roads. We truly appreciated the kindness, professionalism, and customer service from this location. Rented a car here and after driving it for 5 minutes the tire pressure monitoring system alerted me that one of the tires was low. I took it back to the agency and was told that it was a problem with the tire pressure monitoring system and the tire was fine. Being doubtful, I took the car to the gas station and the attendant who measured the pressure. He was alarmed at how low it was and immediately started looking for a leak which he could not find. I took the car back to the agency and asked them to take care of the tires. I was told that the tires were fine when I took the car and then it was now my problem. After a good bit of haggling, the agent finally told me where they take the cars to get the tire serviced. I took the car there and was told that the tread is separating from the radial layers and the tire needed to be replaced. I spent almost 2 days of my trip trying to get into a safe car. Although the Avis app tells me that many different cars are available for rental here, the agent tells me that there are no options. I'm so disappointed. This company's blatant disregard for customer safety is so sad. UPDATE: You can tell from the owner's response how little they care about customers. No offer of compensation for my wasted time, no acknowledgement of the actual issue. They called it a "misunderstanding" and not the life-threatening danger that it really was. Even the main roads in Costa Rica can be unpaved and terribly rough. So it's easy to see how the tires wear down so quickly. But that's no excuse to force customers into cars with bad tires.
