About
A long-standing budget option right by the La Fortuna bus terminal, walkable to restaurants and shops, with simple rooms, a communal kitchen with a microwave, secured parking and laundry. It suits travelers watching their colones. Reviews are mixed on how bookings are handled, so agree on the room and the price clearly up front, and ask for a receipt, before you settle in.

BE CAREFUL OF SCAM. A GUY APPROACHES PEOPLE PROMISING A NICE ROOM AND TOURS. HE TOLS ME ONE PRIVE AND THEN IT KEPT CHANGING. NO RECEIPT NO ID NO NOTHING. I was told one price and then if I want to use the air conditioner, it's more money. Rooms need updates and my shower was cold
DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!!!!! I don't know what type of operation they're running out of here but myself and 2 friends were recommended this place by a information worker staying here. It's worth mentioning that this worker was very adamant on getting us to stay at this hotel and not the Sleeping Mountain that we went to the information desk to ask about. Wouldn't even say that he knew sleepy mountain existed. We arrived and they didn't ask for ANY type of ID, didn't ask for payment, just let us into the room. 20 minutes pass and I decide to go out wandering. As soon as I open the door I notice there's a key IN THE DOOR. Nobody ever let us know they were giving us a key and it really set off alarm bells in my head. We left and didn't stay there. We found sleepy mountain where they asked for payment, passport number, and name before ever showing us a room. Do not stay here unless you have a death wish to not make it to the next day.
I'm a fist time visitor in Costa Rica and don't speak a word Spanish so I did not know how this was going to work but when I arrived at the bus station I got approached by a guy that gave me a free ride to the conveniently placed hotel right in the center of Fortuna. They have cheap rooms that are practucality oriented and clean. Staff does not speak English but I haven't found it to be a problem. In short I recommend it for the traveler on a budget who wants a secure place to stay.
