Estoy Asao

The food was amazing, a very chill vibe. Our server was super attentive and friendly, always made sure we were good and if we needed anything else. The drinks were phenomenal, and they even offered a shot for 2 on the house. Wonderful people, and I absolutely loved it. If I was ever in the area again, I’m sure i’d be here. 10/10 would recommend if you’re looking for a nice bite to eat and great drinks.

Estoy Asao is a low-key trendy Cuban bar/restaurant in the city center of La Fortuna. We went there for a lunch, but particularly for a mid-day cocktail. I noticed they had the 2 for 1 happy hour special so that reeled us in. The server confirmed that special was only for a select few drinks, Tequila Sunrise being one of them so we order it, to which he said, there's no one there to make it... Not a bartender on site and no recipe to follow. Very odd and somewhat of a let down. A couple beers instead. I ordered the Puerco Asado (6,900) - roasted pork, rice & beans, yuca, and a small salad. The flavor of the pork was excellent but unfortunately it was dry, warm, and somewhat tough... The taste was there but freshness and/or reheat was not. Everything else was solid though. 3.5 ⭐ Somewhat of a dud on the roasted pork & inability to make cocktails, but then again, I'm sure it's known for being more of a fun nighttime bar. I'm certain this can't be the case for everyone but we had a generally odd experience.

we had the ceviche tropica and quesadillas, both tasted amazing and the portion size was very generous as well. inviting ambient along with some of the nicest staff you can imagine + water refill midway through the meal! Huge recommendation for dinner and spending the evening.
