My wife and I had the absolute pleasure of experiencing the Balsa River Safari with the best guides we could have ever hoped for: Jason — “Jason the Water Sloth” — and Johnny. From the very first moment, they created the perfect combination of excitement, relaxation, safety, and pure enjoyment of nature. Jason’s deep knowledge of the river and wildlife, together with Johnny’s incredible eye for spotting animals (and his amazing photography skills!), made the entire experience truly special. Thanks to them we were able to see so many birds and wildlife we would never have noticed on our own. Their passion for nature is contagious. One of the highlights was a refreshing pineapple break right in the middle of the river, enjoying the scenery and the peaceful atmosphere — a simple but wonderful moment that made the experience even more memorable. What impressed us the most was how they carefully adapted the experience to our interests and comfort, making us feel completely safe while still keeping the adventure exciting. Every moment on the river felt authentic, peaceful, and full of discovery. The beauty of the Balsa River combined with their professionalism, humour, and enthusiasm made this one of the most amazing experiences of our trip around the world — especially here in La Fortuna, Costa Rica. Jason (aka the watersloth) and Brian were our tour guides, and they were fantastic. It was truly amazing how much Jason knew about the rivers and the birds, you could listen to him for hours. The rafting tour itself was incredible, and thanks to Jason’s knowledge and great sense of humor, the time just flew by. Also after the tour, we had an amazing dice. Highly recommended!

While exploring fun adventures in Costa Rica, we came across a white water rafting tour that was originally recommended by our hotel—but the price was quite high. After a bit of searching, we found the same tour on TripAdvisor for almost half the price, so we booked it, not really knowing what to expect. It was a rainy day, and the river looked wild, so we were a bit nervous at first. But our tour leader and rafting guide were incredible—so warm, fun, and deeply experienced. They knew exactly how to navigate the river and made sure we felt both safe and excited throughout the ride. Their energy and confidence truly made the trip unforgettable. The rafting lasted around two hours, and it was an absolute blast—the best rafting experience we’ve ever had! But what made it even more special was the unexpected lunch and fresh fruit they served mid-way. We hadn’t anticipated any food, so it was a delightful surprise. And not just any snack—the lunch was delicious, and the fruit was super fresh and beautifully served. It was beyond our expectations and added such a thoughtful, hospitable touch to the whole experience.
