La Fortuna Rent a Car

La Fortuna Rent a Car was amazing to work with. We were concerned about driving to La Fortuna from SJO after landing based on opinions online, so we opted for the shuttle provided by the owner, which was definitely the right choice! We made it to La Fortuna around dusk but the roads were very curvy and it was nice to just relax after flying all morning. The owner himself, Rodolfo, drove us and kept in contact with us during the trip to make sure everything was okay. We paid extra to drop the car in a different location at the end of our trip. We booked the Tucsan Hyundai; a high clearance vehicle is definitely recommended, although we didn't need a 4x4. Communication with Rodolfo was very easy and he confirmed acceptance of rental car coverage via my credit card letter prior to booking, so no surprises with the bill. Overall, we really appreciated the personal touch and its great to know that our money went directly to a local family rather than a larger corporation. Highly recommended, Pura Vida!!!

Had a great experience renting here and I’m glad I chose them. I’d heard plenty of horror stories about the big rental companies advertising low rates only to tack on hidden fees later. This was the opposite and everything was straightforward, transparent, and exactly as promised. No surprises, no upselling, just honest service. I got what I paid for, and that’s hard to find these days. Would definitely rent from them again. A+ experience.

Best possible experience! We were able to browse and reserve our cars online, and they were clearly communicative about how to pay the deposit. They then reached out to confirm and sent a receipt, and reached out again on WhatsApp to help us arrive at the rental location, as we took a shuttle from San José to La Fortuna. They met us at the location, had the contracts ready, and welcomed us warmly. As with most places in Costa Rica, they prefer cash but will accept credit card (there a very high fee on cc transactions there). They accepted American dollars. The exact cars we had reserved were there and were in perfect condition. They answered questions via WhatsApp about where to park during our visit, and confirmed the drop off time the day before. I believe the person who helped us was named Rodolfo. Such a reliable, warm, positive person. Highly recommend you use this company!
