You're going to need to know Spanish to order here, but it's sooo worth it, whether you get the buffet or order off the menu (if menu you can just sit and order, if buffet grab a tray and talk to the folks behind the counter). Huge quesadillas and nachos from the menu, and my beef tongue, squash, and rice were tender and delicious and I want to go back for more. Great prices too

Definitely over priced, the beef stew has no beef lol. We tried the beef stew in San Jose, and it looks way much better than this. The price was also ridiculously high, in San Jose, the beef soup combo was 3200 with corn and salad included. Def not recommended

This place hits the spot. It’s hard to find a good solid meal in a restaurant, that you could get up from and go do a days work or hiking or adventuring. Well-made, not too rich, simple, balanced meal. Even harder to find it at such a price, in a clean and airy dining room. This place is definitely “no frills” and it’s not fine dining but I’ll be back again and again whenever we visit La Fortuna. The staff are friendly and helpful to a couple of foreigners with so-so Spanish skills, and this is easily the best “casado” I’ve had in Costa Rica. Good beans and rice, and like I said, a viand that’s not overly salty/oily/rich. Spent three days in La Fortuna and ate as many meals here. Will definitely be back.
