A convenient little minimarket near the hotels and tourist spots, with souvenirs on one side and everyday essentials and snacks on the other (no fresh produce). Some travelers found the staff friendly — even helping charge a dead phone. That said, multiple visitors report being overcharged and warn you to watch the card-reader screen and check your receipt before you leave. Handy in a pinch; pay attention at checkout.

Nice minimart - just essentials food and toiletries - no fresh produce. Higher prices and less selection than markets on hwy142. One side is souvenirs and the other side is the minimart, they are connected inside but you pay at separate cashiers. Convenient location near hotels and tourist locations.
THIEVES! They will STEAL from you and it wasn't an accident. No one would have access to CC cash except the owner. We purchased 3 x 12 oz. bags of Britt coffee that were clearly marked at 5500 colones on the shelf, so 16,500 colones. I didn't have my glasses and couldn't read the receipt, tapped the card reader and left. They charged 28,450 colones or about $57 US for under 2 lbs of coffee. To add insult to injury, I changed a large bill to 10 singles for tips at the bar and tossed the clerk a single for his trouble. A heads up, in the CR they hold out the card reader with the back to you so you can't see the screen. Always ask them to turn it around to see it... I was too trusting/stupid which is on me. The only sad note on our vacation to their beautiful country.
