I ALMOST DIED! Rented a scooter from them and had it for 4 days before the battery died on me. I contacted the owner and the woman came and met me at my hotel because the man was out for repairs somewhere. She showed up and tried to start the scooter and it wouldn’t start. She confirmed it was the battery. She began advising me in Spanish that I shouldn’t turn back on the throttle to try and start the scooter after it hasn’t started the first time. This was a flat out assumption but I nodded my head to confirm. She said if it doesn’t turn on the first time to immediately call. She then began pointing out scratches and marks on the machine that were not from me, asking me if I had a video of the scooter before I rented it. No one instructed me to take a video or pictures before initially renting the scooter so I chalked it up to sketchy behavior. She drove me back to their business to get an exchange rental because the husband would not be around for some time to repair the rental I had been using for 4 days. We handled the paperwork, I followed her advice and took my videos and pictures and I began on my way up to the hot springs. This replacement scooter had a whole different feel. The brakes were not as effective and you really had to squeeze down hard to come to a complete stop. I went over my first speed bump and it scraped the entire bottom of the scooter which hadn’t happened then entire time I drove the other one. I proceeded up hill and 20 mins into driving this new scooter I was in the back of an ambulance. Brakes and tires gave on me when take a regular turn uphill. I literally couldn’t stop the scooter once I veered on the grass. It hadn’t rained all day so I can’t blame a slick road. The story is much longer but I’m due for surgery and had to cut my trip short. They charged me $600 for damage to the scooter which they claimed to pay 2k for. The scooter had some damage but was far from totaled and 100% drivable. Be careful on these scooters and if both brakes don’t work effectively when trying to stop, do not rent.

Really nice trip through the mountains. Great views guaranteed! We also saw a few animals and we were really lucky with the weather. The guide was also very nice and pleasant. Would be cool if he could speak English. We were 4 people in the whole tour so two vehicles following the guide. Recommendation: take the Side by Side Buggy. The Seats are really comfortable and also to take pictures during the drive it’s the better choice. In general more fun to drive with especially if your are two persons. Another advantage - no helmet needed = better view and not so hot

Overall, I was pretty happy with this place though there are some caveats that you should know about. Make sure to bring your driver's license. You do not need a motorcycle license even for moto, but you do need a regular driver's license for all of the options. We rented the motorcycles for 24 hours to go to two places specifically, Castillo and Nuevo Arenal. Both of these places are around the lake, just in different spots, both were very beautiful in their own way. The motos were in good condition, both aesthetically and mechanically. For 24 hours it costs $70 for a 150cc, manual moto. For most people, it would probably make sense to rent the scooter instead because you're also getting 150cc but for $50. So here are some caveats. The distance / locations that you're allowed to go are quite limited for example to the West you are not allowed to go past Nuevo Arenal and to the east you're not even allowed to go past the town limits. The purpose of these bikes is just to see the town itself and go to different main tourist attractions in the area. The second caveat is that if you damage any parts of the bike, even slightly, you will be expected to buy new parts. I dropped the bike one time and it ended up costing me an extra $210 to replace various parts. The owners take a very good look at the bike upon return, so when they ask you to take video beforehand, I would take it seriously. The contract is also pretty clear that any damage you go to the bike you will be responsible for so if you total the scooter you will be out $3,000 at the total the motorcycle you'll be out $4,500. Any hospital related injuries sustained from riding they will cover. Overall, I think that the couple are honest and the rentals are well maintained. However I would only rent from them if I were confident that I would not damage any of their rentals.
