About
As much a place to wander as to eat — open-air and set among villas, gardens, and a pool, with a rooftop garden you can climb up to see fruits and spices growing. The gallos are the order to make, the pork ribs especially, and prices stay reasonable for the setting. Staff go out of their way, even handing kids flashlights to hunt frogs on the grounds.

We just had an absolutely amazing dinner at Abuela Luisita. The restaurant itself is stunning. It is open air and very large and can accommodate a lot of guests, and the views overlooking the pool and small villas is beautiful. There are lights illuminating the grounds and trees that can be seen from the back of the restaurant. The landscaping is beautiful. Our main server was Brayan and he was absolutely wonderful. He was very attentive and had good suggestions. We have three small children and it can be a challenge to keep them occupied during dinner, but after we ordered, we went down to explore the grounds and look for critters. Brayan came down with two flashlights for our kids and we were able to find a bunch of frogs, which made the kids' night. The food selection is very good and we chose two gallos, which were fajitas and pork ribs. Both were very good but the pork ribs were delicious. The prices are very reasonable. Overall, we couldn't have had a better experience at Abelua Luisitas and highly recommend it to anyone staying in La Fortuna. It is a hidden gem and the most beautiful restaurant in the area, I am quite certain.
First, let me explain my rating. I stopped here because I was struck by how beautiful and truly unique this restaurant is. Abuela Lusita is located don clale 301, the same road that takes you to the Arenal Waterfall. Unfortunately, I was unable to make it for a meal because their hours are from 7am to 4pm and we discovered Lusita just before 4 pm. However, I was able to do a walk through and I was super impressed. The grounds are spectacular. It looks like a scenery straight out of Italy. I wish I had the chance to sit and enjoy the sights. I sincerely recommend you do.
We drove by this and saw the old grandma building and thought it was cool. So we came back that night to have dinner. To our surprise the food and service was amazing . Everyone there was so friendly. We came close to their closing time and as we were leaving one of the staff saw us taking a picture and told us that we can go up to the top of “gramdma” . He showed us the rooftop garden . Definitely stop by if you’re on the area. It’s beautiful inside and out !
