The Green Spoon offers a wide variety of vegan options, which is a massive plus. We were delighted with both the service and the atmosphere, which were excellent, making for a lovely dining experience. However, we found the overall flavor profile of the food we ordered to be generally underwhelming, especially considering the higher price point. We were excited to try the nachos based on many positive reviews, and we appreciate the restaurant making their vegan cheese in-house. Unfortunately, the flavor of the homemade cheese strongly resembled coconut, which completely overpowered the entire dish. We regretfully left about 90% of the nachos uneaten. The nachos may actually be better with just the guacamole, salsa and beans. On a brighter note, we thoroughly enjoyed the patacones and the casada. The inclusion of the quinoa fritters with the casada was a really nice and tasty touch. Other dishes were less successful: the chifrijo was quite dry and notably lacked in flavor. We observed several burgers being served to other tables, and they looked fantastic—perhaps that is where this restaurant shines, and we should have opted for those instead. If you do order a dish with the homemade vegan cheese, we would suggest asking about the flavor profile beforehand, as the coconut taste may not be to everyone's liking. A note on price: Be prepared for a higher bill. Our order of a casada, patacones, nachos, and chifrijo came to a total of ₡32,000, which felt quite pricey given the mixed quality of the food. Highlights: Excellent Service and Atmosphere, delicious patacones and casada. Drawbacks: Flavor of the homemade vegan cheese was strongly coconut; some dishes were dry/lacked flavor; expensive.

I was craving a healthy meal and found this restaurant on Google, where it’s very highly rated — so I had high expectations. Unfortunately, the salad didn’t feel very fresh, and the nuts weren’t crunchy. The soup was quite salty for my taste, and both portions were on the smaller side. Perhaps their hot dishes are better, but this experience didn’t quite meet my expectations.

Great spot in La Fortuna for breakfast. The food was fresh, nicely presented, and full of flavor, and the coffee was really good. They offer a nice range of breakfast options. Atmosphere is relaxed with a pleasant vibe. Worth stopping by if you’re in the area.
