About
A true family-run soda on a busy downtown corner, El Río is where you sit, eat a casado, and watch La Fortuna go by — horses, dogs, and all. The owner works the floor with his son while the family cooks in back. Casados (fish and beef) come with well-prepared vegetables and salad, and the natural juices — papaya, maracuyá — get singled out. Portions are big; they charge for takeout containers.

Loved our experience here! From the start we were welcomed with a big smile and the service was great! We both had casadas (fish and beef) both excellent! Maracoya batido also delicious! We would have gone back if we weren't leaving. Try it-you won't be disappointed!
This is a true family owned restaurant/Soda. Located on a busy corner in the heart of downtown La Fortuna. If you love to people watch. This is your spot. Saw some horses go by while eating. Had a cute dog visitor and lots of cars and people going by. The owner is super nice and has his son that works with him. Service is amazing and appears that rhe auntie is in the kitchen cooking up the amazing meals. The alcoholic drinks they make are superb! Reasonably priced for the location. Definitely a must go to while in La Fortuna. Already ate here 3 times. Great atmosphere and ehat better way to support a small local family owned and operated business. With some amazing food and drinks!
This soda was the perfect location which is how we ended up there. Portion sizes were hugeee especially for the soup. The food was like a 5/10, loved their vegetables but the meat was lacking flavour. The fresh juices are amazing tho! FYI they charge for take out containers.
