About
Eating at Soda Rodríguez feels like dining in a treehouse, tucked into little nooks and strung with hundreds of hand-painted messages from past guests — you get a small blackboard to add your own. The Rodríguez family runs it with real warmth; the house bowl and homemade Costa Rican plates get the praise, and Ms. Rodríguez may point out a two-toed sloth or introduce her pet pigs. Lit up at night, it's genuinely one of a kind.

Very cozy spot! Surrounded by trees and plants, the staff is super friendly and kind. The service is quite fast, and the food is simple and tasty. I loved the whole experience, the vibes are chilled and peaceful. And the best part is that everyone receives a small blackboard to write down a short message :) It’s a unique place, definitely recommended!!
Delicious food, good portions, fair prices, friendly staff, and an amazing unique atmosphere. It’s a little hidden from the street (just a 10 second walk) but what a hidden gem we found in La Fortuna! I just finished my meal I shared with my mother. We got the house bowl, and the quesadillas to go. Very delicious!! We got the restaurant recommended to us by another Canadian couple we had met when we were out looking for food. We decided to check it out, and weren’t disappointed! I wish I had found this place earlier, because I would have eaten there every day. We took our meal back to the Campos Arenal hotel to be with my father, but the vibe at the restaurant was incredible - especially at night. It was all lit up with icicle lights, giving a warm and cozy glow. Paired with hundreds of hand painted personal messages from patrons of the Soda. It would be a great place for adults to dine, to have a romantic dinner with a special someone, as well as being a great venue to bring the whole family for a meal in such a special setting. They had a diverse menu in both English and Spanish. Easy to read and order. Impeccable food. Amazing Soda. ❤️ Kelsey from Canada 🇨🇦 February 7th, 2026
This place is such a gem! Super cute family owned restaurant. It feels like you are inside a treehouse while eating. The restaurant is decorated with handmade signs, and you make one too while you eat. Bonus - there are several dogs and cats wandering around (and politely asking for your scraps). Vaca was adorable! Afterwards Ms. Rodriguez pointed out a two toed sloth up in the trees above the restaurant to us with her flashlight. And we got to see her two pet pigs as well. Super cute place and super friendly people, brightened my day!
