About
A surf shop with direct beach access - rent a board for around $20 a day and come and go, with a rinse-off spot and storage lockers for your valuables. Owner Guchi is remembered for going above and beyond, from local tips to genuine care, and instructors like Kurt, Santiago, and Miguel get first-timers standing up by the end of a lesson. A friendly, low-key place to learn in Tamarindo.

Guchi and his employees were fantastic. They rented the boards to us for $20 a day. Their store has direct beach access so you do not have to carry your boards far to access the water. We could come and go during the day as much as we would like. They have a spot where you can rinse off all of the salt water. They also have storage lockers where you can keep valuables.
My 16 year old son and I have never surfed before, and randomly chose this shop because of its location and cool name, and were pleasantly surprised. Kurt was our instructor and has decades of experience which showed because my son and I caught lots of waves! I never thought I’d get up to be honest. Keep in mind it helps if you’re moderately athletic and have any experience with other board sports. Good luck everyone. The only downside is they don’t rent boards by the hour because as a new surfer I was done after 2 hours. Tamarindo is such a great place to learn to surf! Thanks again to Kurt and Banana Surf!
My friends and I had such a great time during our lesson! Santiago was our instructor and he was so professional and encouraging. All 4 of us surfed for the first time and were able to stand up on the board by the end of the lesson! Evi was also a super friendly face behind the counter and made sure we all were happy and had everything we needed. Would leave 7 stars if I could
