Worst bank experience of my life. The employees are like high school kids with no self awareness. Texting on their phones while people are waiting, gossiping to other employees, and taking breaks while it’s extremely busy. Most people who wait end up leaving because they cannot spend 2-3 hours or more to do a simple task. I’m not sure how this bank can even be profitable but if they had any sense of work ethic or decent management they could 10x their efficiency. Not sure how a bank could possibly be this bad and still be standing.
Used the ATM using a foreign debit card to withdraw colones. It worked smooth, but the machine did not state its fee before withdrawal. But I checked and got charged 4% fee, although a bit better rate than the bank across the street (flat rate in my case 8$).
Good exchange rates, slow lines. Bring your passport (and a book for the line) if you are a tourist. Good customer service.
