Buon Appetito

About
A tiny family-run Italian cafe where the food tastes homemade and lighter than most — a veggie sandwich, a smoked-salmon one, well-made coffee, and a breakfast that draws returning locals. The family running it is remembered as warm and patient, and the owner's mother sells handmade earrings by the counter. Seating is limited, so consider takeout for a big group.

Very nice mom and pops restaurant, with amazingly delicious, yet very healthy food. Unlike many Italian places that we find in the US, they don't use a lot of cheese - in fact, surprisingly, my veggie sandwich had no cheese at all - but at the same time the taste is exquisitely delicious. We also tried their smoked salmon sandwich, which was a delight. I definitely recommend this place for the friendliness of the owners and the amazing healthy food that you get. The cafe is rather small, though. If you have a large group, maybe consider take out.
By far my favorite breakfast spot and also appears to be popular with locals as I saw some of the same customers on both visits. Very friendly owner and it tasted home made. My only regret is that I didn’t get the opportunity to experience their pasta carbonara.
Buon Appetito was our family’s go-to place for an afternoon snack while in Tamarindo. The family who runs the place are charming and patient. I loved the homemade earrings on sale at the counter!
