Beautiful Property, But Concerns About Room Security & Missing items My family (husband, kids ages 11 and 9, and grandparents) recently stayed in a 3 bedroom Villa at Cala Luna and found the property to be beautiful, with a relaxing atmosphere, excellent food, and a friendly staff. The setting is lovely, sound baths are amazing, and we enjoyed the location being a bit removed from Tamarindo. Unfortunately, our stay included an issue that was concerning. While we were out on a tour, several items went missing from our room, including a cell phone, a small jewelry box with my daughter’s belongings, and clothing. These items were in the room when we left and were missing when we returned. We understand that incidents can happen while traveling, however this was an expensive property and one of the reasons we chose it was because it appeared to offer a higher level of security and peace of mind. For that reason, this experience was particularly disappointing. We did report the situation to the hotel, the staff expressed their sincere apologies and said they would follow up after reviewing room access logs and cameras. Overall, the property itself is very nice, but we would encourage future guests to take extra care with any valuables, and don't bring any item, including clothes that you wouldn't mind going missing. Unfortunately these things happen even at nice resorts.

We had the most wonderful stay at Cala Luna on our very first trip to Costa Rica and Tamarindo. Extremely clean, amazing location with beach access to Playa Langosta and only a short walk to Playa Tamarindo and downtown restaurants and shopping. The staff was WONDERFUL, so friendly and accommodating. And the food is all fresh and local from a nearby farm. The chef has worked at Michelin starred restaurants and you can tell. Everything we ate and drank onsite was excellent. The pool and facilities were also great everything you could want. We met many guests who have been coming here year over year and we hope to be one of them. Such a great trip.

Gorgeous boutique resort! The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are fantastic. We were in a suite and it was very spacious. Delicious breakfast with local food (gallo pinto, etc) but you can order pancakes and eggs if you want. The staff is very welcoming and professional. The daily complimentary sunset cocktail on the beach is a nice bonus. The restaurant on site is a bit pricey for lunch or dinner but the food is amazing (and they accommodate food allergies). Yoga classes are wonderful (teacher adapts to all levels) but note that the functional workout with Scott is quite intense ☺️. The hotel is in a quiet and very safe part of Tamarindo, away from the downtown action. You can easily walk (on the street or via the beach at low tide) or bike to the heart of Tamarindo. The homemade mosquito repellent is magic and I bought a bottle for the rest of our stay in Cosa Rica!
