El Pelicano - Restaurante

The complimentary pate was a nice starter and tasty. We had the grilled sea bass which had a creamed dill sauce, the sea bas did not need any spices. It was delicious. The fish had a delicious charcoal taste the left us wanting more. The tuna avocado sushi was also great and the wasabi (on the side) was very hot. Meals come with bread which was still warm. Alfresco dining at it best.

We tried to find a good seafood restaurant in Tamarindo, so we walked and saw there are some good amount of people inside so we decided to give a try. We glad we did. El Pelícano offers a fantastic seafood dining experience with fresh ingredients, generous portions, and beautiful presentation. The appetizer Tuna Tatar was light, fresh, and perfectly balanced, while the sizzling seafood platter with lobster, clams, and fish was the highlight—flavorful, well-cooked, and great for sharing. Paired with a refreshing beer and a well-made margarita, everything came together perfectly. A great spot for high-quality seafood in a relaxed, coastal setting.

Visited El Pelicano for dinner during our Tamarindo trip. The menu mixes international flavors with fresh local seafood. The atmosphere is relaxed yet elegant, with a nice outdoor terrace perfect for enjoying the evening and people-watching on the Boulevard. The service was warm and attentive — our server made great recommendations and checked in without interrupting our meal. Portion sizes are generous, and while prices are on the higher side compared to casual spots in Tamarindo, the quality of the food and overall experience make it worth it. Would highly recommend making a reservation, especially during peak season.
