A renovated boutique hotel right across the street from the beach that doubles as a surf camp, where guests learn with instructors named again and again -- Fifo and Luis Alfredo -- and lean on Oscar at the desk for everything. Rooms are modern and clean, staying with them gets you discounts on board rentals and lessons, and there's a restaurant on the way in. Prime, central location that still goes quiet at night.

I don’t even know where to begin, a massive thank you to Lindsey, Paris and Oscar, you guys absolutely made my birthday trip one to remember for a life time. Thank you for your extraordinary hospitality and love. I truly experienced the definition of “Pura vida”. To anyone reading this, if you are hesitant on whether you should book a surf camp with Iguana, don’t be. This is the best place to learn how to surf, the staff is always accommodating and easy going, the surf instructors are all experienced and knowledgeable; Luis Alfredo was my instructor and in my opinion the best instructor I could have had, he was very knowledgeable and able to guide me through the details of surfing to really take me to the next level, surfing has been a lifelong dream of mine to learn and it was made possible through the amazing experience I had with Iguana. I also really enjoyed the location of the hotel, absolutely prime location (but still quiet at night), the facilities are all renovated, the kitchen, rooms, (new 3rd and 4th floors with a rooftop pool and lounge area are coming soon and are super cool). In short, this is the place to be in tamarindo, I’ve done extensive research and after going there and staying there myself, I absolutely whole heartedly recommend Iguana’s surf camp to anyone looking to surf at the best location in Tama 🤙🏽
Highly recommend. Great staff - clean rooms; reasonable price. They helped me with parking, a small medical emergency and were generally an excellent value. Literally RIGHT on the beach. You get 50% discounts on rentals and 10% reduction on lessons when you stay with them.
Definitely recommend staying at this hotel if you want to be walking distance to the beach and town. Room was very spacious and bed was comfortable which you don’t always find! Wish the room would have provided plates and silverware. Did provide nice shampoo, conditioner, & body wash. They were great with informing everything with self check in which made it so easy and non stressful after a long travel. Thank you Iguana Surf Hotel!
