In the Shade Hotel + coworking 300Mbit fiber

I stayed here for a week in Jan 2026 and had a fabulous experience. The hotel is a great place to stay in Tamarindo - it's on a side road so you're away from the main noise but very close to all the bars / restaurants + a supermarket and gym within a 5 minute walk. The hotel's pool is amazing - a really good size for proper swimming and always immaculately clean. The hotel owners + staff are all wonderful - catering to every need and generally nice people and lovely to talk to. The hotel also organises a social for all guests on Thursday which was a really good way to meet fellow solo travellers. The wi-fi is really strong - I worked remotely / did calls with no issues.

I really enjoyed my stay here and fully intend to come back. The rooms were spotless, the beds were genuinely comfortable, and the air conditioning worked exactly the way you want it to in Costa Rica. The pool area was also exceptionally clean and a great place to relax between activities. Having a private balcony or patio was an unexpectedly nice perk—it made the space feel more like a retreat than a standard hotel stay. The staff were consistently helpful, and the owners were on site with thoughtful recommendations for activities and places to eat. Every meal and smoothie I had was excellent. The location couldn’t be more convenient: about a 10-minute walk to the beach, two minutes to a grocery store and pharmacy, and an easy stroll to shops, restaurants, and bars. Overall, it’s comfortable, well-run, and perfectly situated. I’ll definitely be back.

We just left In the Shade hotel. We typically stay in AirBNBs but as it was our first time in Tamarindo we decided to stay here because I didn’t know what to expect. We really enjoyed our stay. We had everything we needed. The bed was fantastic. Higher end feeling Memory foam which for me was perfect. Clean. AC worked great. Safe. Pool was great. We were on property to sleep and take a quick dip in the pool. Most of our time was spent out and about. It was exactly as I expected. A nice place to lay your head, great staff, and clean. Fantastic location, Probably the best location. Just a disclaimer: If you’re the type of person who brings a microscope looking for every little thing wrong many places in Central America might not work for you. Maybe stay at a 5 star and pay for that. Also the hotel is very very quiet. Library quite. Not a party hotel at all which was perfect for us.
