About
A beachfront hotel attached to the Diria complex, so guests get the expansive breakfast buffet and pool next door plus a private beach garden and shared beach bar. It's a strong pick for oceanfront stays and even beach weddings, with a night guard and a friendly desk (Pamela comes up by name). Two things to plan for: the front desk closes early, and street-facing rooms catch loud motorbike noise late into the night.

I had the opportunity to attend La Perla de la Playa Beachfront Hotel in my capacity as a Notary Public, officiating a wedding between a German citizen and a Costa Rican bride. The experience was outstanding from start to finish. The hotel manager and the entire staff were extremely kind, professional, and always willing to assist and guide us, ensuring that everything ran smoothly. The oceanfront setting in Tamarindo Beach, combined with excellent sound and a well-organized space, creates a truly impressive and elegant atmosphere, perfect for weddings and special ceremonies. Highly recommended, both as a hotel and as a venue for beachfront weddings and formal events.
Wonderful little hotel attached to the Diria complex in Tamarindo. Room was well-maintained with a vaulted ceiling, ceiling fan, and chilly A/C. Beds were comfy if not amazing. We were on the second level and while technically we had an ocean view, it was through a little window onto the shared patio/walkway so wasn't really practical to enjoy. Also be aware that many of the rooms have a wall facing the street, which can be fairly noisy during the day. The private beach garden (and shared beach bar with the adjacent Jardin del Eden beachfront) was perfect for catching rays and enjoying beach views. Breakfast was included at the expansive buffet at main Diria hotel, a three minute walk away. While the Perla has no pool of its own, guests were welcome to use the pool at the Diria. During the daytime, a desk agent is present for check-ins/check-outs and questions. There's also an overnight guard (the streetside gate is closed and locked at 10pm, but the guard will quickly notice if you're standing by it and come open it.) One thing we didn't like is that staying here comes with a wristband to access the hotel and the Diria and their services. It's understandable why the operators want to do this, but it's not all-inclusive resort; in Tamarindo you'll spend most of your time out-and-about. It would nice to have an option that didn't include wearing a wristband 24/7 for identification and services you used less than an hour per day.
FYI note before staying: we made it just in time (4:45p) before the front desk closed (unknown to us) at 5p. My confirmation email said the desk closed at 7p. If we were to have arrived any later, there would have been no front desk person to check us in and no one answers the phone passed 5p (it seemed). I saw another review where they had arrived after check in time and had to sleep in their car because they couldn’t get a hold of anyone at the hotel. Bring ear plugs because the main road is busy and loud early in the morning and late at night. We enjoyed our stay overall at Perla hotel! We stayed 3days 2nights. Started our first night in Room #1, first floor, partial ocean view (not an actual view, you have walk a few steps outside your room door into lobby see the view), 2 bed (one full size, one twin). The door had gaps and we had 5 baby crabs make their way into our room that evening. I tried calling the hotel around 11p several times and no one picked up, no option to leave a voice message either. I talked to Pamela at the front desk the next morning and told her about the crabs. She was responsive and immediately moved us to the 2nd floor room (I think Room 10), having it also just freshly cleaned for us. We liked this room a LOT more and we actually had a better view of the ocean and downtown from here (pictures dont do it justice)! One large king bed and a spacious bathroom. And best of all, no crabs! Was going to give 3 stars but Pamela was very accommodating, which brings this to 4 stars for me! There is a security guard at night and a friendly cat who walks the grounds!
