Mother Earth Luxury Boutique Hotel Restaurant & Spa

I do not take this review lightly as it’s very rare I write a review with such a low rating. My friend and I had dinner at the restaurant at Mother Earth Hotel and it was by far the most disappointing culinary experience we’ve had in a long time. My friend wanted to leave the moment she realized the menu was not what was advertised online, but I wanted to give it a chance. The vibe of the website is very different than the vibe of the restaurant. The restaurant was completely empty and they only had 5 or so items available from the menu. We started with the buffalo mushroom wings which tasted like fried food you’d receive from the freezer section of a supermarket. We then tried the Baja tacos which were the most edible item we tried, however it lacked flavor. We then tried the pear pizza and it was quite bland (note I ate majority of the dish given I was starving at that point). It was extremely overpriced — we paid USD 93 for 5 buffalo mushroom wings, 3 tacos, 1 pizza, and no drinks. This was the most expensive meal we’ve had in Tamarindo and by far the least healthy meal given almost everything available was fried.

I don’t even know where to start this review. I’ve never seen a most perfect place. I’ve never been that sad to leave people I met on vacation. The food was amazing, everything was delicious, fresh, made with love and passion. Best food I had in Costa Rica. The service was on point. José made our stay unforgettable. Every morning, he would bring me coffee around 7am. He was attending to our needs even before we needed it ! His smoothies, his drinks, his cakes and dishes were amazingly good. Best service of my life. The owner, Karen, is a gem. She’s been nothing but friendly, knowledgeable, sharing stories and laughs. Her hotel/resort was sparkling clean, cozy, comfortable and beautiful. She is funny and talkative and passionate. I really think I made a friend for life. There are cats on the resort and she takes care of them all. I was working remotely all week, it was the perfect environment. The wifi never failed me. I was working with the best views and best service. I truly recommend to spend some time at Mother Earth. It is a marvellous place. Tamarindo is safe and secure, it’s a cute little town with beautiful sunsets on the beach. I think MEV became a second home to me 🖤 thank you José & Karen !

Absolutely loved this place. The food was amazing, the service from José was next level, and Karen the owner is the sweetest person. Cozy, clean, modern and great vibes, and perfect for working remotely. Felt like a second home, can’t wait to come back 🖤
