Tamarindo Diria

Absolutely loved our stay here, such a special place! First of all booking everything through them is so convenient- Julio helped us with all of our excursions and airport transfers and everyone was perfectly on time to pick us up in the lobby making it such a smooth process. Next, the location is incredible! Beach front and walkable to everything in town. Felt like a very safe area. The breakfast is PHENOMENAL. So many Costa Rican classics but also an omelette bar and pancakes and fresh fruit. So many amazing options I looked forward to breakfast every day. We loved the beach in front of the hotel but we prefer bigger waves. Loved the beach front bar for sunset- truly an unbeatable view. So many chairs available for lounging right in front of the beach but still on the resort. The rooms are a little outdated and small but I think for the price that was reasonable and truly we were never in the room anyway.

Very Disappointing Stay – Not a Luxury Resort I stayed at Tamarindo Diria Beach Resort starting February 26 after booking through the Capital One Travel portal, and the experience was extremely disappointing from the moment I checked in. The first room I was assigned had a serious bug problem. There were ants all over the bathroom sink, mosquitoes flying around the room biting me, and bugs on the bed and sheets. I immediately went to the front desk to request another room and was told the hotel was “fully sold out.” When I said I would leave and request a refund and stay somewhere else, they suddenly managed to “find” another room. While the second room didn’t have the same level of bugs, the overall condition of the rooms was very underwhelming and looked nothing like the photos online. The property markets itself as a luxury beach resort, but the rooms felt outdated and basic. To make matters worse, the bathroom didn’t even have simple amenities like lotion or conditioner — something you would expect at even a mid-range hotel. This hotel is absolutely not a luxury resort. The quality is closer to a 2-star motel. Honestly, a standard Holiday Inn in the United States is maintained at a far higher level. Overall, this was a very disappointing stay and far below what was advertised. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this hotel to travelers expecting a clean, well-maintained resort experience.

Absolutely disgusted by this hotel for many reasons. First, our oceanfront, ground floor rooms were booked in February and we were assured by booking admin after 5 confirmations they were available upon arrival. We were lied to and they were given away instead. Our large family were put in $600 USD / night dilapidated rooms on higher floors, backing onto the busiest, most horrendously noisy road in Tamarindo with zero sound proofing. Nothing has been maintained, fixed, or updated since the hotel was built in the 90's. Our shower drain backed up until we were in ankle deep water, the toilets wouldn't flush properly so water came up to the seat. The floors in the rooms were filthy when we arrived(after being "cleaned"). Motorbikes with disgruntled locals revved their engines and drove up and down the road all night long to keep tourists awake. Not a single member of our family got any sleep while we were there and the hotel did nothing to stop it from happening. Our fridge constantly leaked water on to the floor, and one of our rooms had a water leak from above that bubbled and cracked the ceiling. We reported it and it was never fixed in our 5 night stay. The only thing that worked properly was the AC. The breakfast buffet every morning was good with a big selection of food. If you want to stay for luxury prices in an old, unrenovated garbage dump, this is a good place to start.
