Amazing little cafe and lunch spot in playa grande! Coffee is the best you’ll get in this area. Has a good variety of fresh foods and smoothie bowl was delicious! Service was amazing and atmosphere as well. Only downside is it is a little pricey but quality and taste of food and drinks make up for that. Everything they sell in their gift shop area is also locally sourced!

Amazing experience here. I walked in as a true gringo who speaks zero Spanish, and being from Hawaii, it can sometimes feel intimidating to walk into new places. From the moment I arrived, I was immediately greeted by the owner, Francisco, who was incredibly welcoming and accommodating. Despite being busy, he took time out of his schedule to make sure I felt comfortable and at ease. Francisco is a true stand up guy, a local Costa Rican surfer who has created a simple, high quality menu that really stands out. Everything is made with very clean, unprocessed ingredients, straight from the farm, and you can absolutely taste the difference. The matcha, and especially the iced matcha latte, was exceptionally excellent. It feels great to support a local business that clearly cares about quality, community, and good vibes. Five stars.

We stayed in Playa Grande for four days and this was our morning place to visit. Beach Break Surf Cafe has amazing coffee, smoothies and baked bagels. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The owners Fran and Sofia spent time getting to know us and sharing their stories. They made us feel welcome their home. We appreciate the time they took to spend time with us and add wonderful memories to our Costa Rica adventures.
