Pipe House Playa Grande

I traveled solo and couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay. This accommodation is perfect if you’re looking to truly rest and disconnect. It’s very peaceful, quiet, and has such a fresh and relaxed atmosphere — I felt safe and completely at ease the entire time. The gym is excellent and well-equipped, which I really appreciated. The location is ideal, just a short walk to the beach, making it easy to enjoy the ocean whenever I wanted. Everything was spotless and very well maintained. The breakfast was delicious every morning, and the staff was incredibly kind, welcoming, and always ready to help. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it — especially for solo travelers looking for a calm, comfortable, and relaxing beach getaway.

We enjoyed our stay at Pipe House. Different than other places but very cozy! It’s right by the beach. Rooms are clean and free breakfast is good. Felipe is very friendly. Free locked car parking.

This place didn’t match our expectations at all. For the price you pay the night (compared to other hostels around) we expected much more. First, when we arrived there was nobody to explain how everything worked. No idea how to go to Tamarindo (which is 40min by car) and the only way of getting there is by crossing the estuary (we weren’t told there were crocodiles) and we almost crossed by foot. About the rooms: they are smaller than we thought and very uncomfortable, we couldn’t accommodate our things! And we only had 2 backpacks so forget it if you have something bigger. It was very hot inside, you have to turn the AC the whole time and there’s no ventilation… In the morning they came to give us breakfast (very simple) and there was no interaction with the staff… In the end we had to ask for a refund and we found a more comfortable place nearby. I don’t understand why the reviews for this place are so high! We were very surprised about this. The only things we highlight are: the gym and proximity to the beach (it’s just there).
