About
Playa Grande Surf Camp is the chill, recharge-not-party base a two-minute walk from the beach and some of the area's best surf. Dawn keeps it running like family — booking transport, tours, and groceries — and the staff live on site, so you actually get to know them. Instructors Vidi and Yosimar are patient with beginners, boards are for rent with real advice, and Café Mar Azul out front handles the meals. Pool, hammocks, and a shared kitchen round out the hostel.

From the people who work here, to the location, to the restaurant in front, you cant go wrong by booking here. The vibe is relaxed and chill, peaceful. This isn't a party place, but somewhere serene, a place to recharge, surf and relax. To us, it feels like home. Dawn is extremely accommodating and helpful, The staff here are wonderful and you interact with them everyday as they live on site. They go out of their way to ensure you are taken care of and are always helpful with any questions you may have. The location is great, the beach access is across the street and it's a 2 minute walk to the most beautiful beach and surfing.
If you are just starting to surf, or you have been surfing your entire life, Playa Grande Surf Camp is the perfect place. The location is about a 200 foot walk or less to the beach, with some amazing surfing right next to the camp. A short walk can take you to other spots on the beach where you can find a wide variety of conditions for each skill level. The service here was impeccable. The team here at PGSC make you feel apart of the family here and they do an incredible job of assisting you or your group in getting the most out of your time in Playa Grande. The rooms are all gorgeous, with very comfortable beds. If the room doesn’t have A/C, it will have an extremely powerful fan that keeps your room nice and cool. I found myself not needing the A/C most nights. The coolest part of PGSC was the hostel environment. The level of service and the rooms make it feel like a hotel, but step out of your room and you could meet someone from the other corner of the world with similar passions or interests. I spent a majority of my time in the camp hanging out by the pool or the kitchen and sharing stories with people from all over the world, and I made some amazing friends while staying here. I highly recommend this location to anyone looking to improve their surfing and wanting to meet fellow travelers or surfers!
I loved my stay here! The vibe is super chill and it’s the perfect place to relax, recharge and enjoy the ocean, the beach is literally 2 minutes walking from the surfcamp. The hammocks and the pool in the courtyard are amazing. There’s a shared kitchen, the rooms are really cute and comfy, and everything just feels welcoming. Dawn is the sweetest and always ready to help with anything, she is really caring about everything and everyone. If you want to learn how to surf, this is definitely the right spot, Vidi and Yosimar are super friendly, patient and always willing to help, you can tell they genuinely love what they do. I can’t wait to come back to keep improving my surfing, watch the sunsets, and enjoy the ocean every day ❤️🌊
