Fantastic if you rent from people who own updated condos and if you aren't bringing your kids. Be aware of who you're renting from, and get photos beforehand. My condo was beautiful, but some owners don't update them. Don't bring kids here. It's a great environment for people without kids, but the cranky retirees really don't like having kids around, unless the kids are absolutely silent. This is why you aren't allowed to see your grandkids, Karen! "Pura Vida" my patootie! Playas Del Coco is a safe town. The locals are friendly, and there are some homeless, but they aren't a threat. There is trash everywhere, though. The biggest "threat" you'll encounter is some guy trying to aggressively sell you a boat tour. Fantastic fruit stands and restaurants everywhere.

Be prepared for the security guard named Kathy to scream at you as soon as you arrive. You will be screamed at for at least 5 minutes then fingers will be pointed and she will start laughing at you. If there are any issues with the room you rent don't expect service for hours. Electricity is not stable here so the air conditioning will go on and off and you will swelter in your room The room we rented is a filthy disgusting black hole. Avoid coming here so that you don't waste your vacation time having to put up with all these issues

Rating: ⭐☆☆☆☆ (0/5 if possible) Date of stay: 10-08-2025 Title: Worst Hotel Experience of My Life – Stay Away! I have traveled extensively, and CocoMarindo is without doubt the in the top 5 worst places I have ever booked. Location: The area feels grim, run-down, and unsafe – not somewhere you’d want to walk around at night. Check-in: We were “welcomed” by a large security guard women doubling as the check-in staff. He was incredibly unfriendly, refused to smile, spoke zero English, and didn’t even try to communicate. The entire interaction felt hostile and uncomfortable. House Rules: Before getting the keys, you’re required to sign a ridiculously long list of strict rules. It felt more like entering a prison camp than a holiday hotel. Condition of the Property: Everything is outdated and shabby, with worn-out facilities. The reality is nothing like the bright, modern images shown on Booking.com – those are extremely misleading. Resolution: We decided to cancel our stay on the spot. The hotel refused to refund us a single cent. Verdict: Unfriendly, outdated, and deceptive. Don’t waste your money or ruin your trip – book somewhere else.
