Curiol Boutique Hotel & Lounge

We had a wonderful experience with Tamara and DJ. This beautiful boutique hotel is truly a gem we were so happy to discover. We stayed for five nights as a family of seven, and the property offered plenty of space for everyone to spread out, as well as inviting common areas where we could all gather comfortably. The pool is beautiful, with ample sun and shade depending on your preference. The décor is tasteful and thoughtfully designed with a relaxed boho style that adds to the charm of the property. As a family that enjoys cooking, we found the kitchen well equipped with everything we needed. The beds and linens were exceptionally comfortable, and we all slept very well throughout our stay. We especially appreciated the convenient walking distance to the beach, where we enjoyed stunning sunsets and easy access to a variety of nearby restaurants. The location is also ideal for exploring activities along the coast. Tamara and DJ were excellent hosts, offering warm hospitality and helpful local recommendations, including the Wednesday artisan market at Playa Potrero. We stayed in both the two-bedroom house and one of the studio suites, and both were spotless, well-appointed, and included air conditioning in the bedrooms. The property also offers additional suites, glamping tents, and a larger three-bedroom house that looks fantastic—we hope to try it on our next visit. We highly recommend Curiol for anyone visiting Costa Rica’s Gold Coast. You won’t be disappointed!

AMAZING FAMILY VACATION! This hotel property was beautiful! It was pure tropical luxury! Stayed here for a week in the beautiful 3 bedroom casitas with my family of 4. The house was so spacious, with 2 bathrooms, a full kitchen, living room and outdoor patio with large dining table. It was very clean and comfortable. The property grounds were lush and beautiful with fragrant flowers. Although there were other guests, we always had the entire pool to ourselves. My husband and I would wake up and enjoy the wonderful hotel breakfast and coffee pool side and hang out there until the kids rolled out of bed. The location was great. We walked to the local beach down the road and drove to other nearby beaches like Playa Flamingo (which is also walkable). We loved the vibe of this place. We went to Arenal Volcano area for a few days afterwards and stayed at one of the big hot springs hotels, but we all said that we preferred the chill, tropical beach vibe of Curiol. This family of 4 (parents and teens) highly recommend this place. We stayed for a week, but would consider renting the house short term for a month next time.

We had an AMAZING visit to Curiol Hotel. My friend and I each had a glamping / safari tent to ourselves. They were so much fun, a different experience than a hotel room, and very comfortable. People should know these are not the same as staying in a hotel room with A/C, but that is kind of a "DUH" moment when researching. The hotel also has private bedrooms and 1-2 larger rentals for small groups. Note: the management company some had issues with in the past is gone and the owners have returned from nearby to manage the property. The owners were a highlight of our stay. Friendly, welcoming, helpful, and laid back. They were informative about local spots to visit, food to eat, and what to avoid. Best of all, they knew a ton about the animals in the trees surrounding the property and were happy to share their knowledge. They are easily reachable by WhatsApp. The pool was the perfect spot to dip in after a long day exploring or early in the morning before the town starts waking up. There is ample space to park, to lounge and get work done, etc. The location is a 5 minute walk to the nearest restaurants and about 10 minutes walk to the beach. We would highly recommend a visit to Curiol and are already thinking of future trips to stay again.
