About
A small B&B near Brasilito built around a shared outdoor kitchen and lounge — the kind of place where guests play cards in the evening and leave with friends from other countries. Breakfast is the ritual reviewers describe plate by plate: corn tortillas, scrambled eggs, salsa, and fresh papaya, pineapple, and watermelon, prepared while you watch. Ximena, the manager, and the hands-on owners earn warm, personal thanks. Rooms are simple and compact, and resident cats and dogs wander the garden — sociable travelers thrive here.

Our stay at Quinta Esencia was an enjoyable highlight of our recent trip to Costa Rica. Ximena, the B & B manager, was exceptionally attentive to our needs and ensured that we had a wonderful time in the area. The accommodation was comfortable and clean, and the complimentary breakfast was authentic, prepared while we watched, and delicious. We loved the common kitchen and lounge area where we mingled with other guests. The overall vibe was very upbeat, yet relaxed. We even had the pleasure of meeting the owners, who were very personable and treated us like family. A solid recommendation for other travellers.
We had a great stay here! There is a great open area to eat breakfast, or just hang out in the afternoon or evening. The included breakfast was simple, but delicious, always served with amazing fresh tropical fruit. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends and family.
This was our first time visiting Costa Rica. We loved our hosts, Charlene and Gerard. The location was super-walkable, we could walk to the ocean front beach which featured swimming, shell collecting, horseback riding and various water sports. The housekeeper and her helper were wonderful. We had traditional Costa Rican breakfast every am of corn tortillas, scrambled eggs, salsa, and fruit plate of papaya, pineapple, banana, watermelon and fresh coffee. There is a shared outdoor kitchen space with sink, counter, hot plate, toaster, icemaker, fridge, microwave, blender and other usual small items. The outdoor kitchen and eating area is surrounded with beautiful plants, palms, coconut and mango trees. There is a seating area with books and maps. There is wifi in common area and rooms. There is a small lovely pool. 4 cats and 2 dogs wander about the property. Grocery stores, many restaurants, ocean front beach and shopping are all in easy walking distance. Some of our day trips included a cocoa shop, soda shops, a furniture store featuring Guanacasta and teak woods with natural edges, white water rafting trip.
