Reviewers agree on one thing first: do not judge this place from the street. Inside, the sushi runs shockingly fresh, tuna and marlin sashimi one traveler ranked the freshest he had eaten short of a catch on the boat, generous ten-piece rolls, and a spicy tuna hand roll packed with actual slabs of fish. Handmade pork dumplings and Filipino dishes widen the menu, portions satisfy, and the staff's warmth comes up in nearly every review. Parking is on the side streets; the food does the talking.

We loved dining at New Shogun Sushi in Costa Rica. The seafood was fresh and delicious, with plenty of sushi rolls, sashimi, and sushi boats to choose from. Having the restaurant to ourselves made the experience especially relaxing, and the service was very good. From one outside you may question if this is worth a stop. It won’t disappoint. If you’re in the area, we definitely recommend New Shogun Sushi for its fresh seafood, great selection, and welcoming atmosphere.
Each dish we ordered was delicious and made with fresh ingredients, from the sushi rolls right down to the home made potato fries. The service was warm and accommodating, and the pricing was reasonable. I really recommend it! (The pictures showcase the chicken fingers, the Caribbean roll, and the agui tempura roll- -these rolls were 10 pieces each)
The quality / flavor of the food does a bit of heavy lifting here, but overall this was a good place to grab a quick bite to eat. The restaurant has no parking, so we parked on a side road and walked over. The food was shockingly good! We got a Miso Soup, Edamame, Asian Salad, Scorpion Roll, and a California Supreme roll. We enjoyed everything we ate. The restaurant itself was a bit dumpy and sketchy. The bathroom was one of the bathrooms I've ever used. and overall, if you can look past the look, it's a good place to eat.
