About
An upscale dining room at Marina Flamingo with an open kitchen, a serious bar and service reviewers consistently count as a strength; the manager personally sorted one guest's gluten- and dairy-free meal. The hot dishes are where it shines: octopus gnocchi, sea bass, mushroom risotto and Peruvian ceviche all get singled out, with honey mascarpone to close. Come with honest expectations on price: reviewers compare the bill to New York, and those who paid it still called the evening worth it. A marina stroll afterward completes the night.

Overall it was a pleasant experience. The atmosphere is lovely, and the staff — like everywhere we’ve been in Costa Rica — were genuinely kind, attentive, and truly interested in making sure guests have a good time. Service here is consistently a strong point. We ordered sushi, sashimi, fresh oysters, and a seafood risotto. The risotto was quite good and flavorful, but it felt more like seafood with risotto rather than risotto with seafood — there were far more seafood items than rice. A bit more risotto would have made the dish feel more balanced. Still, the risotto itself was tasty and enjoyable. The sushi and sashimi, however, were not the best choice for us. They weren’t terrible, but coming from New York — where we’re used to places like Nobu and Michelin-level dining — it’s probably not what this restaurant does best. The wine by the glass was good (my husband enjoyed it), and while I personally didn’t love the local oysters, that’s more a matter of personal taste. Overall, a nice spot with a great setting and excellent service. I’d recommend ordering something other than sushi or sashimi here — the hot dishes seem to be a better choice.
Ocean Restaurant, located in Marina Flamingo, is an amazing upscale restaurant with beautiful decor and atmosphere. The menu has unique options to enjoy. I had the Peruvian Ceviche as an appetizer, followed by the Mushroom Risotto. Each bite was full of flavor and a delight to the taste buds. I closed the experience with the Honey Marscapone, which was simply amazing. The service was attentive and excellent. Afterward, it is beautiful to walk the Marina and shops. Come treat yourself at Oceana!
We had a great experience dining at Oceana. They did a wonderful job with the design and created an outstanding atmosphere for our overall experience! It is beautiful inside and love that you can see into the kitchen where the chef is working his magic. They had a great bar selection (and I loved that you could even see the Monday night football game on too 😜). The manager was super kind and very accommodating to my gluten free/dairy free needs. The food exceeded expectations and we will definitely come back! Please do make note and be prepared to drop $$$$ if you’re planning to dine here, much higher than other restaurants around.
