About
A local mom-and-pop in Potrero serving what several travelers call the best food of their whole Costa Rica trip. The casados — fish, pork chop, vegetarian — are the move, along with a seafood soup loaded with fresh catch and a burger topped with fresh avocado that one visitor was still thinking about three months later. Tableside hot sauces and pickles, freshly squeezed caipirinhas, and a passion fruit margarita called the best ever. Prices are local, not tourist — reviewers notice, and appreciate it.

We found this on the last day of our trip and wish we had found it early on. We would have come back multiple times. We had a group of 11 and had many of the different plates. Amazing food. Service was fantastic and atmosphere was perfect for our family. My children said it was the best food of the trip.
Hands down one of the best meals we had in Costa Rica. Restaurant Arenas in Potrero is an absolute gem …truly authentic, incredibly fresh, and packed with flavour. We ordered the sopa de mariscos, which was loaded with fresh seafood and so rich and comforting, and the mahi mahi casado, which was perfectly cooked and beautifully balanced. Every bite felt like real, home-style Costa Rican cooking at its best. The atmosphere is super local, quaint, and welcoming …exactly the kind of place you hope to find when traveling. The staff were incredibly friendly and made the whole experience feel warm and personal. And the passion fruit margarita… genuinely the best I’ve ever had. A must-visit if you’re in Potrero we’ll absolutely be back.
By far some of the best food I had while I was in Costa Rica. Its a local mom and pop type restaurant. Everything was home made and very tasty. The best price was that they didn't charge tourist prices - the prices and food were much better than many of the other places we went to while in CR. We went in January, it is currently April, and I still think about the burger I ordered. It was one of the best burgers I've ever had - they added fresh avocado on it, which I usually don't get on my burgers. They one issue, which wasn't a deal breaker for me, I really wanted chicken and rice, but they were out of chicken. So I ordered a burger.
