About
Loud, happy Mexican food that people rank the best in the area — birria tacos, quesadilla de res, chimichangas and sopa azteca, with strong margaritas and portions that arrive huge and reasonably priced. There are real vegetarian and vegan options too, and the staff are quick with recommendations. A favorite before or after the Nicoya ferry. Menus are in Spanish, so bring a translation app.

Wow, we had an amazing meal at La Takería! The absolute best mexican food we have had, the flavors were amazing, food came out relatively quickly, & staff were very friendly! We had guac with totopos, sopita azteca, birria tacos, quesadilla de res, tacos de punta de solomo, and the flan for dessert… Everything was way beyond our expectations, we couldn’t stop talking about how good it was! The drinks were strong & so unbelievably good! We will for sure be back to indulge again! Best restaurant in the area.
Great place for awesome margaritas and good food. We came here directly when it opened and had a really good time. The staff was super friendly and helpful with recommendations and we enjoyed the food and drinks. Definitely worth a try. 5* from Germany
Delicious lunch after our ferry ride back from the Nicoya peninsula. Reasonably priced and huge portions. Not a complete view of the beach, but is a nice restaurant with good vibes. Lunch for 2 (2 chimichangas, guacamole, 2 water bottles, 2 cocktails) for about $50 USD. No English menus, so would recommend having Google Translate available. I had chicken chimichanga and my boyfriend had beef chimichanga - both were delicious.
