About
A liveaboard dive operation running expeditions to Isla del Coco — 36 hours out to one of the planet's great big-animal dive sites, where pelagic life gathers over the volcanic seamounts. Divers return across decades for the same reason: a crew and dive masters who plan meticulously, put you in the middle of the action, and take safety seriously that far from land. Three meals a day, gear stations, and free laundry aboard. The draw here is the diving and the crew, not resort-style luxury.

Given the amount they charge and compared to other LOBs that I’ve been on, this ship is small and it’s facilities are old and rather uncomfortable. For example, some people in our party booked a suite and ended up with bunk beds. That said, they have wonderful dive masters and crew which really helps.
I’ve had three opportunities to dive with the Undersea Hunter Group at Isla del Coco — 2001, 2019 and 2022. On every occasion I was blown away by the quality and professionalism of their operation. Staff, facilities, equipment, (and not to mention the diving) are first rate. Every time the staff has taken care of us both in and out of the water. Operating a dive boat at Isla del Coco, being 36 hours from land, has unique challenges and the Undersea Hunter Group is prepared for them all. They perform nearly excessive safety checks, have full complements of redundant backup equipment, and contingency plans for all events. Our trips have had very few interruptions or issues, but when anything arose we were kept well informed and things were resolved quickly — and to be sure, we’re talking about things like weather or other out of their hands externalities. I’d dive again with the Undersea Hunter Group again in a heart beat. Isla del Coco is a true treasure and should be on every diver’s bucket list. And if you want to really just go over the top, they have a deep sea submersible you can take a dive in!
Absolutely recommended. Attention to detail is the first concept that comes to mind when I think about the tour I just did with them. The guest cabins are nicely furnished and spacious, the common areas are always clean and the dive deck has designated areas for each diver to keep all their gear. The crew guides you every step of the way always giving realistic expectations both of the dives as to any process during the trip. There's free laundry service, 3 full meals a day, snacks and fruit after every dive and beer and sodas are included. Ask the crew for any help and they go out of the way to provide it.
