About
The owners are long-time residents who built the place themselves, and it shows in the hand-made details and the staircase that climbs into the jungle. Guests single out genuinely comfortable beds and pillows — not a given in Costa Rica — plus a well-equipped shared kitchen and a coffee cafe out front. Monkeys, birds, and sloths pass through the surrounding forest. Rooms sit close to the main road, so expect some traffic noise at night.

Loved it! The place is very peaceful, view into a lush forest, the rooms are comfortable, everything is very clean
This place is such a gem! From the moment you first arrive you will feel comfortable, safe, and truly part of the gorgeous landscape here. The layout is gorgeous, the staircase transports you to another world of comfort and relaxation nestled into the lush jungle. The rooms are super comfortable, clean, and most importantly the beds are legit. If you’ve stayed in many hotels in Costa Rica you know that mattress’s and pillows can be a bit funky at times, but Castillo has super comfortable beds and nice pillows. The owners are long time residents and actually built all of the structures themselves, and you can feel the love and enjoy a lot of the personal touches that have gone into it. If you are in the area I highly recomend starting here. PS the cafe in the store up front “Luna Llena Colecti “ has the best Coffee and espresso drinks as well as cool clothing and jewelry!
Avoid this place. It is a ~$70 per night hostel, with a shared bathroom. This is not worth the price, there are better options in the area. Also, it is extremely lousy at night due to closeness to the main road. The place has several amenities, and service is great; yet it doesn’t justify the price.
