Marisqueria el Dorado

A local hole in the wall that totally delivers! El Dorado knows how to do ceviche! First off, this place is located INSIDE of the market. If you blink, you’ll miss it. I had to ask one of the ladies at the bakery where this place was. After she pointed it out, I couldn’t believe that I had passed it twice. This spot serves ceviche and ceviche ONLY. Fish, shrimp, or mixto. Cash only but this prices cannot be beat! $6 USD (3000 colones) for a decent sized ceviche with crackers. I opted for the shrimp ceviche and folks, it did NOT disappoint! It was so fresh and flavorful. The shrimp were plump and delicious. They serve it with ketchup and hot sauce (the locals say of eating it). I definitely skipped the ketchup, but the hot sauce added a nice kick. This is a tiny place, but they do have a few barstools and a TV to enjoy your ceviche there. The gentleman who served me was really nice (I think he’s the owner). Also, this place seems to have many locals which is always a good sign. It was definitely some of the best ceviche that I’ve had. So good and I’d come back again for more.

Amazing Ceviche! We got the Ceviche de Pescado. Can be a little hard to find. But go to the bus station and it’s the only ceviche shop in the market.

Amazing fresh fish! Meal was fantastic and very reasonably priced. I will go back tomorrow for lunch!
