Tres Banderas Jungle Hotel

The hotel is in a fantastic location and comfortable. We did notice that a fair amount of outside noise could be heard from our room at times. The staff are truly amazing — Jesus is the man! We really appreciated his friendly, laid-back demeanor and how he went out of his way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Maeka was also incredible and shared so many helpful tips with us. The rest of the team — Sandra, Rosie, Patricia, Valentina, and Farid — were all super friendly and accommodating, and they made our stay one to remember. We really appreciate you all. This hotel has filthy rooms. The light switches look like they’ve not been scrubbed since the hotel opened and the walls themselves were full of scuffs and dirt marks. On top of that the room smelled strongly of mildew. The shower had only cold water and also had mold. Bedsheets were stained and the beds were hard as a rock. Even the pillows were lumpy and old. We had two rooms at this hotel and they were both equally bad. The rooms are up several flights of steps. You need to be able to carry your luggage up the steps as there is no elevator nor a ramp. The steps were an issue for one member of our group who has trouble getting around. The pool was cloudy which means that it was probably not safe to swim in it. We didn't even try as it just looked kind of gross. The hotel is not convenient. It is on a narrow road with no sidewalks or shoulders so you can't walk anywhere. Plus it is up a steep, narrow drive. We had trouble getting our Uber drivers to come up the driveway to pick us up even though one of the people in our group had mobility issues. I will say that the kitchen, which was open to see did look clean. They served a decent but small breakfast. You got one egg and rice and beans. If you wanted a second egg there was an extra charge. I’ve traveled all over the world and this was by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. If we had been able to, we would have changed hotels but as it was Christmas we couldn’t find anything that was available nearby. I am sure that the hotel will respond to this review with some kind of snarky comment about how wonderful they are and how wrong this review is. However, if you look at the majority of recent comments you will see that the hotel is truly awful.

We stayed at the hotel in January 2026. I booked it on Booking.com. The reviews were mixed. The hotel is dirty, updated and cheap in every sense of the way. BUILDING: Old, outdated, in needs of repairs. May be 10-15 years ago, it would had been a good building but not now. There were no trees in the back yard but we did not see any animals. ROOMS: The rooms were not clean properly. There was no hairdryer, no fridge, no microwave, no iron. Just bare minimum-bed, chair and table. The bathroom has no shower curtain or door so you have to be extra, extra cautious when taking shower. Otherwise, water would be all over the bathroom/ room. There was no shelves in the bathroom to put your soap, shampoo etc. so I have to put them on the floor. ENTRY & PARKING: Let's talk about the building/ parking. The entry way was all gravel, rocks and dirt. The Parking lot all dirt. The hotel has no elevator so you have to carry all the bags up and down the stairs. POOL: The area around swimming pool was ok. The seating were cheap chairs. Overall pool was fine. BREAKFAST: The worse part of the stay. There was not much to eat, the portions were small. The kitchen area/ restaurant was not cleaned properly so it smelled like rotten eggs. Food taste was not good. The kitchen staff was just rinsing the dishes instead of washing. It was disgusting.
