Alamo Rent A Car

We rented a car from Alamo in Sámara, Costa Rica, and had an excellent experience from start to finish. We made our reservation online before the trip — the booking process was smooth, straightforward, and allowed us to choose insurance options easily. We selected third-party liability coverage, as our credit card already included Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Protection (it’s important to bring a letter from your bank confirming this). The Alamo office in Sámara was easy to find, and we were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff. Although our originally reserved car (Suzuki Jimny) wasn’t available at pickup, the team — especially Johan — handled the situation with exceptional professionalism. Johan was extremely kind, patient, and genuinely helpful. He apologized for the inconvenience, clearly explained why the vehicle wasn’t available, and gave us the option to cancel without any penalty. Instead, he took the time to show us two other available cars that could suit our needs. Because we were visiting during the rainy season and planned a few off-road trips, we needed a four-wheel drive with good clearance. Johan offered to take us on short test drives in both cars, shared his honest and knowledgeable opinion about which one would perform best for our plans, and never once made us feel pressured. His approach was calm, friendly, and completely professional. We ended up choosing a Toyota RAV4, which was a great fit — easy to drive, reliable, and handled both paved and rough roads with ease. Johan also explained the deposit and optional insurance clearly and transparently, which made the entire rental process stress-free. When we returned the car, everything was quick and smooth — paperwork done in minutes — and Johan even offered to drive us back to our hotel, which was such a thoughtful gesture. Overall, this was a great rental experiences. The process was efficient, the vehicle was in excellent condition, and the service — especially from Johan — was outstanding. We’ll definitely rent from Alamo Sámara again the next time we’re in Costa Rica.

Sámara Alamo car rental is easy to navigate. The agent explained the car features and fees clearly. We had the vehicle for 3 days and had no problems. We explored the Nicoya Peninsula and traversed rugged terrain. The drives were amazing and well worth the cost. The GPS unit got us off track briefly but we were able to reset it eventually. We returned the car in Liberia and the process was smooth. The shuttle was ready and we were on our way. Thank you Alamo for providing a good quality vehicle and outstanding service.
