We had a room with private bath. Good size, clean, good a/c. Nice upper floor shared balcony with coffee/tea station. It was needed to get me going befire our daily breakfast of fruit, eggs, gallo pinto, juice at approx. 8:30. Jessenia the housekeeper/host was lovely and helpful. It was nice to share space with other travelers and share stories. We were able to prepare our own dinners if we wanted. Suggestion to other travelers take or throw out your items invthe fridge. Its hard for the housekeeper to keep up with item to throw out. 1 block from the beach, fresh mangoes from the tree in front

I travel extensively, and La Mansion sits in a category of its own among Costa Rica accommodations. I stayed for a month. The location is great, both peaceful and dynamic: my daily morning coffee was still steaming when I arrived on the beach just in time for sunrise — just to tell you how close it is to the beach. La Mansion is tucked into a quiet pocket that is steps from the shoreline and central to town, but removed from the tourist bustle. I ate at the same two spots every day, because when something is perfect, why change: Mr. Warner's, for super fresh shrimp and fish tacos, and The Wok, a Thai spot that opens at 5 p.m. and cooks everything to order. On Saturdays, the farmers' market is the best place to stock up on fresh fruit and is steps away. La Mansion offers a genuine Costa Rican Pura Vida experience. It has a hacienda feel with bougainvillea, ginger plants, and a massive mango tree (full of huge mangoes in March) in the center courtyard. There is a coconut tree and papaya trees as well, which add to the wonderful feel of the place. My room was very comfortable, colorful, and pretty. Great bed, reliable air conditioning, a full bathroom, and internet that held up through full workdays without dropping. Yessenia and her daughter Cristal arrive every morning to cook a fresh breakfast, served in the courtyard. They tend the property with care and made me feel very welcome. Joe, the owner, was on top of things and has great communication. I hope to return and stay longer next time. This is truly a special place.
