Surf Samara

If you're in Costa Rica, please make sure to spend some time at Surf Samara. It was by far the highlight of our trip. Elena and Douglas have crafted a very special place, and are such lovely people to get along with. A few highlights: their property is beautiful, with a calming atmosphere. We had fresh, delicious cooked breakfasts every day that accommodated all dietary restrictions, two wonderful morning yoga sessions, and the surfing itself was amazing. Our whole group progressed very quickly thanks to their tips and guidance. I can't wait to keep improving these skills, and I hope one day we'll be able to make it back to this lovely part of the world.

We all had the best time here. Not only because of the beautiful place itself, but also due to the warm and welcoming environment Elena and Douglas have created. The breakfasts were amazing, especially after the morning yoga. And the surf lessons were so fun. I had zero experience and they were both incredibly supportive and gave so many helpful tips. With the pool, hammocks, and great company, we wished we could've extended our stay. And the stars were unreal.

I made a repeat trip to Surf Samara for a week in early December 2025 after being there in January the same year with my daughter (who also loved it!). Elena and Douglas are such incredible host and are really enjoyable to be around. Douglas is a great instructor and so patient when you are out on the water. Another great thing about the surf camp is they allow you to customize the experience to fit your needs which works out very well. Elena will set up yoga classes, tours, aid in transportation, etc. Such great people, I highly recommend.
