About
The restaurant is the reason to come: mahi mahi and pescado in a salsa de aguacate from a recipe the family has kept for 30-plus years, in generous portions at fair prices, often with an Esmeralda cocktail alongside. Staff draw warm mentions across the board. The budget rooms upstairs are clean but basic and due for a refresh, so set expectations there.

This review is for the restaurant. It was so delicious. The best pescado I’ve had in Samara. The fish was so well cooked, it melted in my mouth. I had it with the salsa de aguacate (avocado sauce) and I have to say it was absolutely divine. A traditional recipe passed down for 30+ yrs and it’s the most delicious thing I had in a very long time. The prices are also really great for the deliciousness and amount of food. Really awesome group of people working there - can’t wait to go back!
I can do budget hotels no problem, but this place doesn't reflect the price. The staff was extremely nice, I had zero problems with them. They did give me an early check in, which was helpful. And it was clean, so no problem there, with a comfortable enough bed. Room had the advertised tv, but it didn't work. No outlet near head of bed, or bedside table. Everything about it needs refreshing, and it has potential. Not enough lighting at night, need something in order to see where you're walking. Spotty internet at best. You can do much better for the same price. If you're just passing through for one night and are in a pinch, it works, otherwise I'd suggest looking elsewhere.
We ate dinner at Casa Esmeralda and it did not disappoint! Service was outstanding, & food portions were plenty. Highly recommend eating here if you’re in Samara.
