Hotel Fermata – Luxury Boutique Hotel Santa Teresa

Just returned home from my stay at Fermata and wish I could have extended. From the moment we arrived my mood was elevated. I went down with my 2 children and a friend with her kids, we literally had the best time. The rooms were so cozy and warm, loved all the good lighting and super comfy beds. My daughter especially loved her little window nook bed that the housekeepers made up for her. The property is perfect in every way, the grounds feel sprawling compared to most along the beaches which was great because the kids had space to play without disturbing the adult guests. The lawn out front of the restaurant was a big hit during dinners. The front desk even arranged babysitters so we could have an adult dinner one night. Food was incredible, the restaurant is probably prettiest in all of Costa Rica..definitely with the best service. They have Chorotegas Surf School on site if you want to take a lesson, the guys gave my kids lessons as well as a little clinic in the pool on duck diving and proper paddle technique…which was just above and beyond of the norm and highly appreciated. Everything about waking up here was just my ideal morning sneaking out while the kids were still sleeping, grabbing a coffee around 5:30am, checking the surf out front and surfing with friends, it really doesn’t get any better. Everything was made so easy, will come back soon!!!!

Mei and I have been staying at Fermata for the past three weeks, right from when they first opened, and we’ve been completely blown away. From the moment you arrive, the staff make you feel less like guests and more like family, warm, kind, and genuinely thoughtful in everything they do. The rooms are beautifully designed, filled with incredible design books and the cutest ornaments that give you a true sense of Costa Rica. The outdoor showers are a special touch, private, serene, and something we looked forward to every day. The restaurant quickly became my go-to for every meal. Each dish is fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented, always served with a smile. Cocktails at the bar are a must, especially as the sun sets over what is easily one of Santa Teresa’s best surf beaches. One of the loveliest daily details is the freshly baked cookies and banana bread laid out for guests, perfect for a quick snack between meals and a small gesture that says a lot about the care put into this place. If the ocean isn’t calling, the pool offers a calm, tranquil escape. But if surfing is your thing, or you want it to be, the hotel has the best instructors in town. Ask for Diego. He’ll have you up and surfing on your first go, all while keeping the vibe light, fun, and full of smiles. Fermata isn’t just a hotel, it’s an experience we already can’t wait to return to.

Fermata Hotel was absolutely amazing from the moment we arrived. We were greeted by the friendliest staff, all with genuine smiles, and welcomed with a fresh coconut, such a thoughtful touch, especially in the heat. The food was outstanding. Breakfast was delicious, the lobster lollipops were incredible, and the spicy pineapple mezcalita was unforgettable. Every bite and drink felt well thought out and intentional. The hotel is beachfront, with a beautiful saltwater pool, super comfortable beds, and an overall design that shows so much attention to detail. Everything feels curated, relaxed, and effortlessly stylish. Service throughout our stay was exceptional, warm, attentive, and always delivered with a smile. Fermata truly nails the experience.
